On September 2, 2022 we celebrated with 150 invited guests in the “Heitere Fahne” in Bern 10 years Addis Guzo, that means 10 years of work with and for people with disabilities in Ethiopia and a lot of association work, fundraising and aid collections in Switzerland.
In a cozy and beautifully decorated hall with many handicrafts coming directly from Ethiopia such as woven baskets, stone figures, woodwork and jewelry, we sat together, ate Injera (Ethiopian flatbread) and various Wots (vegetable, meat and legume dishes), We drank Ethiopian coffee and enjoyed the many encounters and conversations with people who have been and are connected to Addis Guzo, who have accompanied us, supported us and helped us to build up this awesome project.
A project presentation by Christine and Bene made this visible in a beautiful way, and many of those people were present to celebrate with us. There was an Ethiopia quiz for everybody to engage in, products from the craft workshops were sold and a great entertainment program with music, comedy and poetry slam rounded off the wonderfully unconventional evening.
On October 7, the anniversary celebration will take place in Addis Ababa. Here, too, a great program with many highlights will take place. We are already looking forward to the pictures.
